Release Practice: How to Let Emotions Flow and Raise Your Frequency
Some emotions can become stuck when the energy generated by a situation doesn’t move through us. This can show up as physical pain, tension, or subtle changes in our attitude, facial expressions, body language, even our patience and understanding.
Whenever we experience a big moment—a shock, a change, a trauma—powerful emotions arise, creating waves within our minds and bodies. These waves are pure energy, oscillating between positive and negative. It’s not about good or bad; it’s about whether our inner light shines brightly or dims.
To create more positive energy, we must learn to release the heavy emotions that keep us vibrating low—anger, resentment, jealousy, envy, betrayal. These feelings are rooted in our ego, shaped by our upbringing, culture, beliefs, and the stories we carry from the past.
Our ego is always communicating with us, helping us distinguish between ideas, triggers, wounds, and new experiences. Yet, the real challenge is our lack of self-awareness and the little time we spend truly feeling and naming our emotions.
As a mother to a two-year-old, I witness daily how children learn to express their feelings—through words, colors, sounds, and movement. It’s humbling to realize how, as adults, we often lack the language or patience to do the same. I, too, have moments of frustration, quick reactions, and neglect of my own nervous system’s messages. Sometimes, I act like a toddler—reacting instead of reflecting.
So, what can we do when these emotions visit us?
Three Simple Practices to Release Emotions
1. Emotion Labeling
Start by identifying what you’re feeling. The simple act of naming your emotion brings clarity and softens its hold.
2. Breath Awareness
Practice mindful breathing. Inhale deeply, and as you exhale, imagine releasing the heavy emotion. Visualize a white light entering with each breath in, and a dark smoke leaving with each breath out—growing lighter each time.
3. Emotional Journaling
Keep a journal for your feelings. Write what’s bothering you, where you feel it in your body, and use affirmations to shift the energy.
By consciously practicing these steps, you raise your vibrational frequency and invite more peace and clarity into your life.
Release isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.
